Makeover Days 2011

This year we enrolled a total of 13 stores in the program, focusing on getting healthier snack items in each of our stores.  So far it’s been a huge success with stores selling out of fresh fruit cups in 1-3 days!  The HCSI is continuing to work with storeowners to stock and promote healthy snack items, and hold workshops in local schools to promote healthy eating among kids.

Here are some pictures from this year’s Healthy Corner Store Makeover Days, August 16th and 18th, 2011:

Students, storeowners, and other supporters celebrate a job well done!

The cooler image was designed by students at RiverzEdge Arts Project in Woonsocket. They did a great job!

The HCSI donated cooler containers to all participating stores as an incentive to participate in the program. The coolers will hold the fresh fruit cups.

CEC youth painted this banner to hang on the side of our GreenD(RI)ve bus! We took the bus from store to store delivering healthy items.
